Shakeology… a short review

Good stuff

I was interested in adding Shakeology to my fitness routine not as a way to lose weight per se (although it definitely has been helping with that), but for the good things it contains. A lot of times my diet leaves a lot to be desired, and I found this is a great way to get the nutrients and vitamins/minerals I may be lacking. A snippet:

And it tastes great, no lie!

There are two flavors… Greenberry and Chocolate. I’m an established chocoholic, so you can imagine which one I went with in my shipment πŸ™‚ But seriously folks, this is the best tasting replacement shake I have ever tried. It’s very thick and rich just with water, so imagine what it’s like with skim or almond milk. Heaven. I like to add a little cinnamon, nutmeg, PB2, and pumpkin pie spice now that we’re in the cooler months, and it’s divine. I find that a shake in the morning will keep me going until lunch. Another combo is PB2, sliced strawberries, and a banana with plain lowfat soymilk with water and ice in the blender. That thickens the shake up quite a bit.

For those who really want to see what really makes up a scoop of chocolate Shakeology, here you go.

One thing I do have to note: the prebiotics and digestive enzymes are no joke. No. joke. You will need to visit your favorite private sanitary facilities more often. After all, it’s like a trip to the salad bar in a shake, and we all know what salad bar trips do after the fact.

An interesting side-effect? My hair and nails have been growing a lot faster. I’ve heard some folks experience this, and some don’t. Interesting, no?

Over the years, I’ve developed a sensitivity to chemicals like caffeine and artificial sweeteners, and this product contains neither. It’s also gluten-free. Just all natural good stuff, and I like that πŸ™‚

If this is something that interests you, by all means go to beachbody.com and order some. There are also sellers on eBay who can hook you up with a 7 day supply to try it out before making the big purchase. It can be pricy, so you as the consumer will have to decide if it’s worthy. I know BeachBody coaches tend to push it hard just like with the P90x Recovery Formula (also pretty pricy), but in my opinion, it’s hard to beat the ingredient list and the taste with this shake.

Again, I’m not affiliated with Beach Body in any way (although I have purchased many of their DVDs), so this is just a review from a regular Jane type of casual athlete. Send me a comment or a message if you’d like more info or want to chat about it.

Thanks πŸ™‚ I try to give my own spin on posts, for better or for worse.
