Stress and frustration – ways to deal with it

It can be different things that cause them, like for most folks. Work, family, school, health perhaps? It’s easy to say “I’m going to have a great day,” and want to mean it, but does it actually happen? The important thing is to find a healthy outlet for the stress and frustrations of the day.

When the job gets me frustrated and stressed out, as it very often does, as soon as I get home I get on my martial arts uniform and shoes, grab my bag, and head down to the dojo. I don’t even stop to think about it, I just react. It’s time to punch, kick, and kneestrike various objects with my sparring partner. Then I get out of my classes, and I’m like, ahhhh… I can now relax in the tub and look forward to curling up with the husband and the critters. What stress?  I’m too tired to be stressed out!

Sure, it’s a bit hard getting out of bed the next morning, but the endorphins did what must be done. The conscience is clear and ready for the new day.

Pets… another great stress reliever. It’s hard to stay upset when a large 17 lb gray and white cat is insistent on curling up on my lap to chirp every now and again about nothing in particular.

Having a husband who will pull his basketball shorts up to his armpits and do a dorky dance in his socks helps a bunch too. Erik, you are a goofball and a half, and I love you for it 😉

These are just a few of my ways to achieve a state of calmness. I’m sure you have great methods as well. Keep on truckin’ as they say.
