TV show recommendation: Game of Thrones

Yes, I’m a little late to the party, but that’s ok. I got the first three DVDs of Season 1 a few weeks ago and finally got around to watching them. And, about four hours later, I finally came up for air. That, and my husband was complaining that I was hogging the TV. Next thing I did was order HBO in time for season 2.

I have a love/hate relationship with my cable provider. I hate that my price seems to go up every year without me adding any new services, and that my wireless connection seems to be slow. So, in protest last year, I cut off the pay cable services. It wasn’t exactly going to hurt their bottom dollar, but it made me feel a bit of a rebel. Plus, I figured there weren’t going to be any shows that would be worth the extra fees like The Sopranos were a few years back.

I was wrong.

Game of Thrones is a medieval fantasy based on a series of books written by George R.R. Martin called A Song of Ice and Fire. To put it in the basest of terms, it is about seven noble families’ fight for control of the mythical land of Westeros. There’s all sorts of things to please folks who aren’t into Fantasy/Sci-Fi books… blood, guts, violence, sex, humor, drama, and a great storyline with characters that you either love or hate (or a little of both). I’m a sci-fi/fantasy nerd, so this is right up my alley. Plus, there is one more element in this series that just knocked me over senseless… the addition of dragons. LOVE me some dragons 😀

I actually saved some money in the deal plus my Internet speed is getting an upgrade. It’s a win for everybody!

It doesn’t hurt to have a bit of eye candy to check out either ;):
