The Avengers review (spoilers possible)

It took me a couple of weeks to finally get a chance to watch this movie. Talk about a film having legs. Even three weeks out the theater was packed. But, in this case, there was definitely a great reason for that.

It’s true that in some Marvel film creations some directors missed a bit of the mark, but Joss Whedon knocked it out of the park here. I shudder to think what someone like Michael Bay would have done. Nightmare-inducing, that is. Whedon has a definite love for the characters, and it really shows. Sure, there is nonstop action throughout, but the characters don’t get lost in the shuffle.

A couple of points:

  • Galaga. ‘Nuff said.
  • Hulk, smash!
  • That Legolas joke was pretty good.

It’s pretty rare that I purchase DVDs, but when this one is released, I will definitely buy it. If you haven’t seen it, by all means.

On an aside, an interesting incident happened in the theater. As the seats were being taken at a rapid rate (my husband and I sat somewhere in the middle), one woman was saving seats to the right and left of her a row ahead of us. I’d seen her walk in with what appeared to be her husband and son, so I figured they were buying goodies at the concession stand. This really arrogant guy walked in and was directing his large party to various seats. He asked her if he could take the seats around her and she said no, they were saved. Well, he didn’t like that at all, starting pointing his finger right in her face and getting all het up about calling the manager. She invited him to do so.

I guess he didn’t see her quite tall and sturdy family come back  into the theater, but they were there when he got back. Let’s just say he didn’t even give a glance in their direction. The son looked like he was ready to rumble. I don’t blame him, if I found out someone did that to my mom, I’d be ready to throw down too.

Anyway, go watch it. It’s great!
