Movie review: Chef (spoilers possible)

November 12, 2014 Leave a comment Go to comments

Director: Jon Favreau

Starring: Jon Favreau, Sofia Vergara, Scarlett Johansson, John Leguizamo, Bobby Cannavale, Robert Downey, Jr.

Favreau is getting back to his indie roots in this one. He is in the main role as Carl Casper, a renowned chef who feels stifled under the reign of his restaurant owner (Dustin Hoffman). When a food critic gives him a crappy review, he has to decide what’s really important and where he wants to go in his career and personal life. Did someone say drop everything and get a Food Truck?

Casper has a 10 year old son (Emjay Anthony) and and estranged wife (Vergara) he never spends time with, but the food truck venture allows for some family time he didn’t have before. He enjoys cooking again also, even if it isn’t avant garde cuisine.

If you’re like me and enjoy watching people prepare food, this movie is for you. Every scene made me hungry just about.
